Does it count if I almost kissed my ass goodbye?

I've been trying to track down a couple of people since they were sighted in Arthur, Nebraska. Yeah, I've never heard of it, either, and I don't know how the hell my contacts found them. It was the first good lead I'd gotten in over six months, though, so I got out there as quickly as I could. If I found them, I was going to have a fight on my hands for two reasons:

1) They think I'm dead.
2) If they realize I'm not dead, they're still going to look at me as the enemy.

Still, any fight would be worth it if they'd end up letting me help them.

I made it to their location, checked my watch as I stood outside the small wooden house they were allegedly occupying. Allegedly. Key word. It was a few seconds to midnight local time, but I didn't have time to think about the new year. As I approached the house, the front door was flung open, and a man I'd never seen in my life started shooting a gun in the air. Welcome to New Year's celebrations in the middle of nowhere. My automatic response was to draw my gun, which drew his attention.

Trespassers will be shot isn't a sign one puts up for shits and giggles, kids.
